YVCC Vinquiry Seminars
Wine Sensory Defects ($200) - April 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m
This 2½ hour seminar will discuss how defective aromas and flavors originate in wine and what to do to prevent their formation.
Winery Analysis: When, Why, and How ($135) – April 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
This 2 1/2 hour seminar on lab analysis will include instructions on when in the winemaking process analysis must be run and why it is important. The second section will cover the basics of lab equipment and what parameters need to be considered when setting up your own winery laboratory.

The Business of Making Wine

The Northwest Agriculture Business Center is hosting a one-day business development workshop for new or existing businesses that are involved in winemaking. Industry professionals will provide information about production, economics, business plans, risk management and marketing that will provide assistance to the veteran or aspiring wine maker. The goal of this workshop is to help maximize winery business performance.
Maritime WInemaking Shortcourse

WSU-extension is pleased to announce a beginner’s workshop
on starting a winery and making wine with Dr. Kerry Ringer, Extension Enologist.
This is your opportunity to learn about making wine and what it takes to start a winery in Washington State. We will cover the basics of winemaking in the morning, the costs, the equipment, wine microorganisms, and what to look for in your grapes. The afternoon will focus on winemaking techniques for Westside grapes including deacidification, sparkling wine production, and blending. Hear from Washington winemakers and wine educators! If you are in the early phases of opening a winery, planning to open a winery, or just dreaming about it, then join us on June 30.
Cost: $125 per person if registered by June 2. $150 if June 3 or later.
